Apparently Jack Bauer is the Instrument of the United States' Imperialism

On Psychology Today's blog,

http://blogs.psychologytoday.com/blog/lust-in-paradise/200901/tortured-torture

the article "Tortured by Torture" argues that though currently we are engaged as a nation in war crimes and torture, that it is nothing new, and we have been doing it for a long time.

Doubtless, this is true, however, it is not always the case and to make such a blanket statement smacks of a stererotype, especially with their chosen picture of Jack Bauer, who is just about the epitome of the "American Pig" stereotype anyway, at least among the circles of those who detest Americanism. There have surely been periods in our history where these abominable practices have not been in our employ, like during the Vietnam war when so many of our own POWs were being tortured by the Vietcong, or in more recent times like with Clinton or Carter or Reagan. Are we really expected to believe the United States was sanctioning torture under the watch of all these respected men? Ridiculous.
